Keep Arts in the Stimulus Package

On Friday afternoon (2/6/09), the Senate approved language that will prevent many arts organizations from receiving any portion of the economic stimulus package. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) stated, "None of the amounts appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act may be used for any casino or other gambling establishment, aquarium, zoo, golf course, swimming pool, stadium, community park, museum, theater, art center, and highway beautification project."

California senator, Dianne Feinstein voted to approve this amendment language!

Please write your senators and let them know this new amendment is not acceptable.  This link will connect you to the Americans for the Arts website.
